Sunday afternoons are starting to grow on me quite a bit. The last couple of them have involved some alone time with me and my camera in some pretty cool places, like Union Depot and Schaar’s Bluff at Spring Lake Park. This past Sunday may have been the best time, yet. The afternoon was calm, sunny and full of interesting clouds which prompted me to want to find some neat architecture to place those clouds around for some long exposures. Enter the Minnesota State Capitol.
The day continued to be lucky in that every time I had visited our capitol building in the last 2 years there were scaffolds and cranes draping it due to construction at and around the building, but not this Sunday. All signs of construction were gone. Just the Capitol, me and that beautiful sky! It was awesome!
As my trek around the capitol was winding down, the clouds were starting to diminish except on the western horizon, where it looked to be the makings of a stunning sunset, and it was! I stopped on the Cedar St. Bridge overlooking University Avenue to catch this view of it blanketing the Capitol. A Capitol Sunset if you will!
Sunday afternoons and me are getting along just fine!
