Had some server issues this morning which was both good and bad. Bad because I couldn’t get into the blog to post ay my regular time, but good in that it gave me an opportunity to process an image freshly taken this morning form downtown St. Paul. The St. Paul Cathedral is not a new subject for me, but it’s typically not lit up the way it is right now, all due to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event going on this weekend.
This is the second year for the Crashed Ice in St. Paul and the course starts right in front of the Cathedral and runs straight down the hill in front of it. What’s Crashed Ice you ask? It’s a new skating competition on an ice obstacle course that in the main part of the competition, up to 4 skaters compete at the same time on the course – yeah, it gets pretty heated! The scaffolding to camera right in the image is a straight away after making the first turn coming towards the camera.
With the Red Bull sponsor, there’s a lot of hoopla around it, including multicolored lights all over the course, and all over the cathedral, making it look so much different than normal – in a very cool way! This particular shot features the blue lights which were the most common this morning while I was there. I waited and waited for the purple color, but they only lit once and I missed it. Blue will have to do!
Have a good weekend and Laugh More!
