Grey Cloud Blue

Canon 60D, Tamron 17-50mm, f10, ISO100, 122s, 17mm

When I got up at 5:30 AM on Sunday morning, this was the image that was in my head, for the most part. I did not know exactly what rocks and landscape was in this spot, but I knew there was something there from driving by the previous afternoon. The blue colors at this time of the morning, and earlier, are just awesome and the transition of the sunrise adds just enough contrast in color.

Even though there was no cloud cover, the water in the bay compensated by being a bit ripply, but not too strong. A 122 second shutter smoothed it out very nicely and added just a bit of motion and sheen to the image, especially in the mid ground. There’s a bit of movement in the grass and the tree leaves in the background, but I’ll take it!
