The Stones

Canon 60D, Tamron 17-50mm, f10, ISO100, 17mm, HDR, 9 Exposures

While processing this image, the thoughts of my friend Bob Crum (from the Bold Photo Facebook Group) could not escape my mind. Bob has rightfully accused me at times of planting rocks and other items into a frame in an effort to improve the foreground interest and overall composition. When he sees this image, I’m sure more accusations will be made, but surely he overestimates my abilities, and my resources, to think that I could plant ALL of these stones!

This was a totally new spot for me at Grey Cloud Island, opposite the bridge and park area where I normally stop – if you follow the tree line to camera right you’d see the bridge. Many fishermen (and women) use this spot and, to be honest, have done a terrible job keeping it up. There was garbage from bait boxes and plastic bottles all over the place. Shame too, because the spot is quite nice otherwise and gives a great view of the sunrise as seen in this image.
