Our last morning in The Smokies was pretty much washed out for sunrise as the icy conditions in the mountains kept us from getting to any of the elevations and the cloud cover ruined any shot at any of the lower overlooks, but on our return back to Townsend, the sun popped out and made a few of the pullover spots along the Little River Gorge Road quite beautiful and worthy of pulling over and grabbing some shots!
This spot in particular still had some beautiful fall color left in it and the Little River looks good no matter what the conditions. The Little River Gorge Road pretty much follows the river up until Elkmont where it splits. The drive, especially in the fall, is both beautiful and a bit hairy, as many folks get caught staring at the river area instead of paying attention to a rather curvy road!
