The giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove are truly something to see. The large ones are the oldest living things on earth, and the largest. Unfortunately, the trails in the park were so heavily covered in snow, and after a 2 mile uphill hike back to the park, it was just too much work to get back to them for Team Denham. The youngsters we did get to see in the park were still quite impressive, like these 3 wonderful trees nestled in among some other evergreens and a cute little creek that run beneath.
We did get to see 3 mature trees just before entering the park and you can see just how big they are in the image below with my 12 year old son next to one of them for scale. Full maturity yields about 30-35 feet at the base. So big!
